[…] Peter Vesth is a Danish country singer-songwriter, with a folky style somewhat akin to Roger Whittaker. […] Firstly, Vesth has a gift for melodic writing, and his tunes are lovely. Secondly, the musicianship and arrangements are superb. No musician credits are given, but an acknowledgement to guitar player Larry Beaird tells us the tracks were laid in Nashville, a conclusion that’s backed up by the guest list of Suzy Bogguss and Music Row singer-songwriters Julie Burton (apparently, a current finalist in American Superstar) and Jess Leary, each of whom sings in duet with Vesth throughout. Bogguss is marvelous on Smoky Mountain Morning and the lazy Round Midnight, while Burton’s whispy vocals fit the delicate arrangements perfectly, even touching a slight erotic nerve in Snow’d In, with her offer to “stay in out pajamas, listen to Sinatra.”

Jess Leary is excellent, too. A hit tunesmith (Mi Vida Loca, Where the Green Grass Grows), she’s also a fine singer, and pals up with Vesth on six tracks, co-writing the leadoff Safe And Warm with him.  

In the final analysis, it’s a gentle album with great tunes, well-played and with fine performances from the three Nashville ladies. […]
